Why it exists
Ask where the ice is good and you get a resort blog from two winters ago, a Facebook thread and a Reddit comment. That is a bad way to decide whether to drive a truck onto a lake.
Iceline puts it in one place. Live ice thickness in inches and snowmobile trail conditions for lakes across the North, with the time of every reading and a forecast that tells you when your lake is ready.
How we work
- Every number shows its age. Old readings fade to gray.
- We publish reports and forecasts. We never guarantee ice.
- Free listings for resorts and fish house operators. No pay to be listed.
- Current conditions stay free. Extras like long range forecasts and alerts may be paid later.
Where we are
Iceline opens for first ice, which for northern Minnesota lakes starts around mid November. Until then, sign up on the home page and we will email you when your lake locks up.
